SITUATE NORTH LAB 2021

SITUATE NORTH LAB
The SITUATE NORTH Lab is a nine month program of activity to scaffold five northern based early and mid-career artists and creative practitioners to undertake the research and development of new place-based and COVID safe artworks for Tasmanian festivals and presentation partners. The program will begin alongside Mona Foma Festival in January 2021 and culminate at the Regional Arts Australia conference at Junction Arts Festival in September 2021.
The artists will connect with a team of senior Artist Provocateurs who will mentor them along their journey. They will also be introduced to Tasmanian Situate festival partners (The Unconformity, Mona Foma, Dark Mofo and Junction Arts Festival) who are looking to present bold Tasmanian work in festivals from 2022 and beyond. The SITUATE NORTH program will also see the artists presenting their research and development findings at the Regional Arts Australia conference at Junction Arts Festival in Launceston in September 2021.

Key Dates:
Expressions of interest open: 1st December 2020
Expressions of interest close: 31st December 2020
Successful participants notified: 8th January 2021
Introduction session - Welcome to Country and Cultural Awareness: 19th January 2021 (times TBC)
Lab 1 sessions: 17th - 21st February 2021 (times TBC)
Lab 2 sessions: 26th - 28th May 2021 (times TBC)
Artlands session: 1st - 5th September 2021
*Note: You must be able to attend the session in full over these dates to be considered eligible for the program.
Locations: Launceston and Devonport
Support: An honorarium of $2,500 will be provided to each artist for their involvement in the program.
