Mary SCOTT
(TAS)
Mary Scott is a passionate arts educator and arts advocate with thirty years’ experience. She is a visual artist and writer, who works in many contexts and formats, and across different media. Scott mentors emerging artists and represents artists through board and advisory work. Among her achievements are, a Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning, Australian Learning and Teaching Council and a Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning, University of Tasmania. She is a current member of The Ministerial Arts and Cultural Advisory Council, and past member of Peer Professional Learning Program for Awards Program, UTAS; Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board, Organisations Investment Program, Arts Tasmania, member Professional Development Scholarships, Arts Tasmania, and Chair of Artsbridge, Arts Tasmania.
Scott was, until 2016, Drawing Coordinator, UTAS. She currently teaches Creative Arts Practice-led Research Methods unit for Queensland University of Technology and works as an independent arts practitioner and writer. Highlight exhibitions include: Within These Walls, Narryna House, Dark Mofo; Full Void, The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery; Jane Elizabeth, Oaklodge, Ten Days on the Island; The World Inside, Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery; Facts and Fictions, Drawing Centre, UK. She is past recipient of Australia Council Grants and has undertaken creative residencies at Bath Spa University Research Centre; Project Space Wimbledon College of Art, London and was Guest Artist, Haystack School of Arts and Crafts, Maine, USA.
