Jordan WILKINSON
Jordan Wilkinson is a mixed media artist living and working on Yugambeh Land (Gold Coast). His creative work primarily involves the processes around filmmaking such as sound, text and the visual. His passion for capturing the natural landscape in which he grew up has been fundamental in the development of his own arts practice.
His most recent works hope to challenge and provoke the ideas associated with the notions of sexuality and infuse them with Australia’s gothic-like natural landscape.
Graduating from the Queensland University of Technology in 2017 with a Bachelor of Creative Industries. Jordan has since worked at such reputable arts organisations such as Somerset Storyfest, Gold Coast Film Festival and HOTA (Home of the Arts). Working predominately as a festival producer at these organisations, Jordan seek to connect with his local arts and culture community.
Integrating into the screen industry to develop a strong sense of his own filmmaking practice. Jordan wanted to observe director’s at work. Receiving the Screen Queensland Attachment in 2019 and 2020 saw him attached to two major television series as an emerging production assistant and assistant director. From this, he sought to create his own creative projects.
Most recently, Jordan finished a three-month-long residency with the City of Gold Coast’s Level Up Program that embeds four artists in a shared studio space in Coolangatta to build a portfolio of work to showcase in a collected arts exhibition. Here, Jordan attempted to explore the development processes of a web series from its text-based roots to a physical environment.
