HOSTING (TAS)
Hosting (1988.) is a multimedia artist, multi-instrumentalist, audio engineer and technical creative. Recently transitioning their focus into producing experimental artworks, Hosting's unique approach as a "Meta-Technician" involves an innovative misuse of both physical and digital tools to extract an array of content. This creative exploration sees them mining soundscapes from found objects, manipulating the vast digital strata of the internet archive, and constructing elaborate live performance setups from unconventional materials. Their practice is a blend of instrument building, skill acquisition, hacking, diaristic field recording, found sound extraction, sample-flipping, and both digital and analogue masking methods, resulting in richly detailed and textured sonic and visual narratives.
Hosting's work captures and preserves the ephemeral textures of memory, place, and time, reflecting on the perpetual post-internet, pre-cosmopolitan cycle. Despite having only a high-school degree and a formal ADHD diagnosis, he leverages his unique social challenges as strengths in his creative process, allowing him to capture fleeting moments of beauty, absurdity, and chaos in the digital age.
