Darcy BOATSWAIN

Born and raised on the Gold Coast, Darcie is an aerial circus artist with a focus on dance trapeze. She has channelled her love of circus performance into creating and producing in person and online shows as Glitter Martini.

Glitter Martini was born out of a love for shows that take circus into a cabaret context, allowing for more sophisticated and adult acts, without compromising on the fun and playful nature of circus. Darcie’s work positions the audience as integral, with every show incorporating large scale participation sections to make the audience feel that they are really part of the show, seen and heard by the cast on stage. She believes the audience feeling this inclusivity is what separates and elevates live performance from other forms of entertainment or art.

Darcie is interested in creating work that encourages more everyday people to be interested in attending arts experiences. She believes that a performance space can create an opportunity to show the world the way we might like it to be, and an opportunity to invite others to share in that world. 

Darcie currently passes on her circus knowledge teaching the art of the aerial circus to kids and adults at Aerial Artistry in Helensvale.
